The role:
As a Pest Control Field Operator, you’ll be on the frontlines of protecting New Zealand’s biodiversity. Using methods like trapping and toxin deployment, you’ll help restore native species and safeguard biosecurity. Every day is different, and every project presents new challenges and opportunities to learn.
We will equip you with NZQA qualifications, hands-on skills, and the chance to grow your career with an industry leader making a real impact.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, anywhere between 6:00AM to 5:00PM.
Location: Current contract work is on the West Coast South Island. Our teams frequently travel to operational sites across the South Island, providing the opportunity to experience New Zealand off the beaten track.
At times, you may be required to stay away for the working week (Mon - Fri) plus the occasional 10-day stint, with accommodation and meals provided.

Requirements:
- Eligible to work full-time in New Zealand.
- Clear criminal record.
- Full or Restricted NZ driver's licence with a clean driving record, and the ability to drive off-road vehicles.
- High level of physical fitness and the ability to navigate challenging terrain, including mountainous areas and the wet West Coast bush. This role is not for the faint-hearted.
- Willingness to drive long distances and stay away from your home base.
- Able to adhere to and have a strong commitment to health and safety standards.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Able to work independently in the field and manage time efficiently.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying environmental conditions.
- Positive work attitude and a great work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications (not mandatory):
- Experience/qualifications in pest control or biosecurity work.
- First Aid Certificate.
- Qualifications in ATV, LUV and 4WD use.
- GrowSafe Certification.
- Controlled Substance Licence.
- NZ Firearms Licence.
Successful candidates must complete a pre-employment assessment, including medical, reference, and criminal background checks, meeting Rentokil Initial's satisfactory criteria.
